Design Highlights & Challenges:
- Originally constructed in 1885, The Carrel Building underwent a complete restoration and was one of several buildings given a face-lift in what is now part of the revitalized Downtown Willoughby Historic District
- Phase I, completed in 1998, included storefront upgrades, window replacements, masonry repairs and remodeling of the second floor
- Phase II, completed in 2009, included a new staircase and entryway, HVAC & fire protection upgrades, remodeling of the first floor and storefront improvements, as well as additional remodeling to the second floor
