Partner Profiles
Robert A. Fiala, AIA, NCARB & Christopher D. Smith, RA, LEED AP, NCARB
TDA culture encourages staff to think beyond the workday and their workspace and live comprehensive lives, and our two partners certainly live up to that. Bob, managing partner, has been an active member of the architectural community for more than 30 years; but he’s managed to stay quite busy outside the office, as well. Married and proud father of three, Bob is also active within the community where he works and lives, tirelessly devoting his time in support of local religious institutions, merchants and business owners. As a City of Willoughby Councilman and a member of the Planning Commission, Bob’s industry knowledge has been invaluable in the sustained and managed growth of the City, as well as the preservation of its' historic downtown. Additionally, he sits on the Board of Directors for Third Federal Savings & Loan.
Chris Smith joined the firm 12 years ago and was recently named partner, as part of a very well-crafted succession plan. Chris is a former Division I collegiate athlete and an Olympic-caliber track athlete whose bid for the 2000 Games was overshadowed by a knee injury. Today, he mentors young athletes and coaches varsity cross country and track at Eastlake North High School. He manages TDA’s Sports Facility Studio and engages specialized knowledge inherent with any athletic facility. He and his wife also reside in Willoughby.
